Location
Santanyi is a small town in the southeast of Mallorca, which has preserved an original Mallorcan charm to this day. The Mediterranean beaches are located four kilometers from the city center. At first sight, Santanyi appears as if it had been cast in one piece. The townscape is characterized by medieval and modern buildings made of golden yellow Mares sandstone. The sandstone is extracted exclusively from quarries in the vicinity of Santanyi and gives the town an unmistakable appearance. Atmospheric contrasts are created when green palm fronds sway gently in the wind on the Plaça Major in front of the sandstone-colored house facades and the azure sky.
In Santanyi you will find an art gallery or studio on almost every corner. If you are looking for extravagant decorative items, you are sure to find them in the small stores. Directly on the main street is the Galeria Sailer in a completely renovated 17th century townhouse.
In the heart of Santanyi there are numerous restaurants where you will be served dishes of typical Mallorcan and international cuisine.
With the Cap de ses Salines, the southernmost point of the Balearic Island is located in the municipal area of Santanyi. The lighthouse of the same name on the headland has been sending its beacon out into the Mediterranean since 1863.
Only a few kilometers from Santanyi stretches the southeast coast of Mallorca. The port of Cala Figuera welcomes you with a Mediterranean ambience. It draws its charm from the almost complete absence of mass tourism. The adjacent bathing bay invites you to take a bath in the clear water of the Mediterranean Sea. A bathing paradise for families with children is Cala Santanyi.
A very popular place on the island, which has something to offer for everyone!
